My great, great grandfather, Johann Michael Kempf, and his brother, Johann Heinrich Kempf emigrated from Germany to the USA in 1832 ending up in Rochester PA. The family name was changed to Camp. They decided that if they were going to be American citizens they were going to participate fully in this democracy.

They participated both on the political level and on the social level. Many Camps have been held local goverment offices. In fact, there is on the Beaver County PA Boaard of Commissioners a Camp who is following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Camps have been mayors and council members, served on school boards and on the boards of npo's. The Camp social consciousness has led us to support social causes and to participate in the political processes.

It was pounded into me that as a citizen you vote. To this day I vote in municipal, county, state and national elections plus local school board elections.

I sincerly believe that if you don't vote, then don't bitch!
